Description

The Mande MW12 is a compact outdoor sauna for two to three, a handcrafted ThermoWood cabin built in Lithuania to sit in a backyard and outlast the weather. This is a traditional Finnish sauna, a genuine Harvia heater over a bed of stones, high heat and a ladle of water for loyly, not an infrared box.

What lets it hold up outdoors is the wood. ThermoWood is timber heat-treated at high temperature until it is dimensionally stable and resistant to moisture, warping, and rot, which is why quality thermowood cabins are rated to last 15 to 25 years outside. Tempered-glass doors and windows keep it feeling open, integrated ventilation moves the air, and LED under-bench lighting sets the mood.

You choose the heater and controls: a Harvia KIP electric in 6 or 8 kilowatts, with a built-in knob controller or a WiFi controller so you can preheat from your phone before you step out on a cold night.

Set it in a corner of the garden, a few steps from the back door, and a real sauna becomes part of the evening, not a place you drive to.

  • Assembly: interlocking cabin sections; plan for two people and a prepared, level base.
  • Electrical: a 6kW Harvia heater needs a dedicated 240V circuit around 30 amps, an 8kW around 40 to 50 amps, with weather-rated wiring, grounding, and a licensed electrician; many areas require a permit and inspection. Arrange this before delivery.
  • Site: a level, non-combustible base with room for the door swing and heater clearances; a cover or roof extends outdoor life.
FAQ

Is this a traditional sauna or an infrared sauna?
Traditional. A Harvia heater warms a bed of stones to high heat, and you can pour water over the stones for loyly, the classic Finnish steam. Infrared cabins run much cooler and heat your body directly. If you want authentic, hot, outdoor sauna, this is that.

What is the difference between the 6kW and 8kW heaters and the WiFi option?
The 6kW heater suits this compact cabin well; the 8kW heats faster and holds temperature more easily in cold weather, at a slightly higher electrical draw. The WiFi controller lets you preheat from your phone before walking outside, which is genuinely useful in winter, while the built-in controller is a simple, reliable knob on the heater.

How hot does it get, and how long to heat up?
A traditional Harvia sauna reaches around 165 degrees in 30 to 40 minutes and 185 to 190 in an hour, warmer and slower in cold weather. The WiFi controller helps you start it early so it is ready when you are.

What does a sauna session actually do?
Most people use it to relax and unwind. A hot session warms you through and raises your heart rate in a way that feels like gentle exercise, and many find the time afterward calming. Research on sauna suggests it may also support post-exercise recovery. A sauna is a wellness ritual, not a medical treatment.

What electrical does it need?
A 6kW Harvia heater needs a dedicated 240V circuit around 30 amps, and the 8kW around 40 to 50 amps, with weather-rated wiring, proper grounding, and a licensed electrician. Many jurisdictions require a permit and inspection, and GFCI rules vary, so the heater manual and local code govern. Plan this before the sauna arrives.

How durable is ThermoWood outdoors?
ThermoWood is timber heat-treated until it resists moisture, warping, and rot far better than untreated wood, which is why quality thermowood cabins are rated to last 15 to 25 years outside. A cover or roof and basic seasonal care extend it further, and good ventilation keeps mold away.

Is a sauna safe for everyone?
Traditional sauna is generally well tolerated by healthy adults, but the heat is a real cardiovascular load. Check with your doctor first if you have unstable heart disease, a recent heart attack, uncontrolled blood pressure or arrhythmia, or are pregnant. Hydrate before and after, avoid alcohol, start with shorter sessions, and step out if you feel lightheaded.

About Mande

Mande Spa hand-builds its outdoor saunas from ThermoWood in Lithuania, then fits each cabin with a genuine Harvia heater, electric or wood-burning, from the Finnish company that has made sauna heaters for 75 years. The line runs three sizes, the MW12, MW16, and MW20, for two to six people.

ThermoWood is the reason these cabins are rated for outdoor life. The timber is heat-treated at high temperature until it resists moisture, warping, and rot far better than untreated wood, which is why a quality ThermoWood cabin like this is rated to last 15 to 25 years outside. Tempered glass, integrated ventilation, and LED under-bench lighting round out each model.

Ellara carries Mande for that combination: a real Finnish heater in a cabin built to hold up outdoors, not a look-alike box.
