Description

The Icetubs IceBath is a Dutch-built cold plunge you lie down in, not climb into, a flat, bathtub-style immersion bath that runs from a 37-degree cold plunge to a 100-degree warm soak. The shell is furniture-grade Thermowood over a stainless steel interior, handcrafted to sit as a centerpiece indoors or out, not to hide in a corner.

What decides whether a plunge still gets used in month six is maintenance, and this is where the IceBath earns its place. A three-stage filtration system with a built-in ozonator cycles the water every six minutes, without chemicals, so it stays clear on its own. A 1 horsepower engine holds any temperature from 37.4 to 100.4 degrees, set from the Icetubs app or the panel on the tub. Entry and exit are easy, much like a regular bathtub, and the X-Large fits users over six foot two for full submersion.

Put it where your morning already happens, a few steps from the shower or the back door. Cold you have to drive to is cold you will skip. The plunge that gets used is the one you can lie back in at home.

  • Assembly: minimal; it arrives ready to fill, with no plumbing to connect.
  • Power: plugs into a standard 110V household outlet; no dedicated circuit and no plumbing.
  • Placement: set it on a level, load-rated surface, since a full lie-down bath of water is heavy; suitable indoors or outdoors.
  • Water and care: fill with a hose; the filtration and ozonator handle daily cleaning, with a filter you replace periodically.
FAQ

What does a cold plunge actually do?
The honest version is narrower than the marketing. The evidence best supports two things: cold immersion can reduce how sore your muscles feel after exercise, and it can lower stress in the hours after a session. That is the claim we make, and no more. Cold plunging is a recovery and stress-resilience habit, not a metabolic or fat-loss device, and the research does not support the bigger transformation claims.

How cold, and how long?
A useful range for most people is about 11 to 15°C (52 to 59°F) for 11 to 15 minutes. Colder and longer is not better, and can work against you. This bath goes down to 37.4°F if you want it, but start warmer and shorter and build up. The goal is a controlled, repeatable session, not an endurance test.

When should I use it, around training?
Here is the part most sellers skip. If your goal is building muscle, avoid plunging in the hour right after lifting, because cold immersion straight after resistance training can blunt muscle growth. Use it on rest days, after endurance or skill work, or well after a lifting session. For general recovery and stress, the timing matters less.

Can I really use it as a warm soak too?
Yes. The 1 horsepower engine both chills and heats, holding anything from 37.4 to 100.4°F, so the same bath is a cold plunge in the morning and a warm soak at night. Some people alternate warm and cold in one sitting. Set the temperature from the app and let it reach the target before you get in.

How much maintenance is it?
Less than most. A three-stage filtration system with a built-in ozonator cycles the water every six minutes without chemicals, so the water stays clear between deeper cleans. You replace the filter periodically and top up the water. The daily upkeep is close to nothing, which is what keeps a bath in use rather than sitting cloudy.

Does it need special wiring or plumbing?
No. It runs on a standard 110V household outlet and needs no plumbing, so there is no electrician and no water hookup. You fill it with a hose.

Who should be cautious about cold plunging?
Cold water is a real cardiovascular stressor, and the shock response is immediate. Check with your doctor first, and consider avoiding it, if you have heart disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, are pregnant, or have Raynaud's or a cold-intolerance condition. Never plunge alone, or after alcohol. Get in gradually, keep early sessions short, and step out if you feel unwell rather than pushing through.

About Icetubs

Icetubs is a Dutch cold and hot plunge maker founded in Amsterdam in 2020. Its founder spent a decade building wood-fired hot tubs in Europe before turning to cold therapy, after repeated requests for a heaterless tub led him to test one himself.

That manufacturing background shows in the build. Each tub pairs furniture-grade Thermowood with a stainless steel or fiberglass interior, run by the brand's own Icetubs Engine, a single unit that both chills and heats and is set from an app or an on-tub panel. A three-stage filtration system with a built-in ozonator keeps the water clear without chemicals.

Ellara carries Icetubs for that combination of engineering and design, and curates which models make sense for a home setup before they reach this page.
