What does an infrared sauna session do, and how long does it take to warm up?
Infrared warms your body directly rather than heating the air, so you sweat at a lower air temperature than a traditional sauna, up to about 140°F here. It warms you deeply and brings on a sweat, and many people use a session to unwind and support recovery after training. A cabin this size generally needs 30 to 45 minutes to preheat to a full sweat, longer in a cold room. It is comfort and routine, not a medical treatment.
Does the built-in red light panel actually do anything?
It is a front-facing red light panel, separate from the chromotherapy color lighting. Red light's effect depends on its wavelength, its intensity, and how close it sits to your skin. Research on red light points mainly to the appearance of skin and to muscle recovery, and results come from using it close and directly. Two honest notes: this is a modest panel at 90 watts, and the manufacturer has not published its wavelengths or intensity. So use it close and early for the best chance of benefit, and if serious red-light dosing is your goal, a dedicated red light panel is the stronger tool.
Is far infrared enough, or do I need full spectrum?
The Malmo uses carbon far-infrared heaters, which do the great majority of the heating and sweat work in any infrared sauna and are what you feel most. Full spectrum adds near and mid infrared on top, and some buyers pay more for it, but the everyday difference is smaller than the marketing suggests. Buy the Malmo for a comfortable, even-heating two-person cabin with a red light panel and chromotherapy built in.
Is there anyone who should not use it?
Check with your doctor first if you are pregnant, have heart disease or low blood pressure, have an implanted device, or take medication that affects heat tolerance or sweating. Do not use it after drinking alcohol, hydrate before and after, and step out if you feel lightheaded.
Should I worry about EMF?
It is a fair question, and the most common one in this category. The Malmo uses carbon heaters built to a low-EMF standard, but low EMF is not a standardized term, and the manufacturer has not published a measured figure. The reading that matters is taken at the seated position, not at the heater surface. If a measured number matters to your decision, contact us before ordering and we will request it from the manufacturer for you.
Does it need special electrical work?
Yes. The Malmo draws close to 16 amps at 120 volts, so it needs its own dedicated 120-volt, 20-amp circuit installed by a licensed electrician. It is not designed to share a standard living-room outlet with other devices. Budget for this as part of setup.
Will two adults really fit?
It is rated for two, but it is a compact cabin, only about 35 inches deep, so two adults sit close and upright. It is most comfortable for one person to stretch out, with room for a second on occasion. If you mainly want a roomy two-person cabin, a deeper model is a better fit.
How is it delivered and warrantied?
It ships as pre-built panels in two boxes on a pallet, about 226 pounds total, by freight to the curb. The panels connect without specialized tools, and two people can set it up in a session. It carries a 2-year limited warranty on the wood structure, heating, and electrical, handled through the supplier, so keep your order details for any claim.
